DVR Players have only really become popular in the last five years and have seen many technological advances and the ability to store even more video. The first DVRs were seen back in the late 1960 and you could expect only to see around 30 seconds of low quality video. However as technology improved and DVRs were able to record many hours of video they began to enter the family home destined to replace the VCR.
DVR Players do pretty much the same job as a regular VCR but instead of recording TV shows to lots of video tapes it is recorded to a single hard drive that is inside the DVR player. DVRs can record many hours of video content meaning you do not have to worry about having lots of videos tapes to keep your favorite films and TV programs on.
The benefits of DVR players do not stop with them being a superior recording device. They also boast the ability to quickly skip adverts on recorded content, pause live TV, rewind live TV, and export your the videos on your DVR to other devices such as a PC or DVD.
The most popular brand of DVR in the USA is TiVo. In fact TiVo has become such a popular brand that is has replaced the term DVR and become a household name where many people refer to DVRs as TiVos.
