DVR Surveillance and CCTV Systems

DVR technology has been a great asset to home entertainment, but the power of DVRs can really be seen in CCTV Surveillance systems. By using DVR technology in a surveillance system it becomes a highly sophisticated system compared ot its VCR predecessor boasting a large number of advanced features and functions.

A DVR Surveillance system completely removes the need for storing lots of security footage on video tapes. Many months of footage can be recorded to large disk capacity DVRs and the DVR can even be set to record over the oldest footage should the hard drives become full. There is of course the option of moving any footage to a DVR or CD.

Another great advantage of DVR surveillance systems is that a DVR is essentially a computer and can therefore be hooked up to another PC connected to the net allowing you to view your DVR footage remotely by connecting to your DVR securely over the internet.

The best part of DVR surveillance systems is how they interact with CCTV cameras. A DVR surveillance system typically has CCTV cameras with motion sensors (allowing the ability to record only when movement is detected), multiplexer, image zoom, and direct control of CCTV cameras.

With a DVR surveillance system you can also set the quality of the security footage allowing you to optimize quality and disk space usage. All recorded footage can be searched by time, date and even event (e.g. movement).

DVR systems can be installed relatively cheap and are even accessible as a home security solution. The simplest surveillance solution would be using a normal home DVR player hooked up to a CCTV camera. Another solution is installing a PC DVR Card in your computer allowing you to use your PC as a DVR surveillance system.

The more advanced security arrangements inlude large capacity DVR boxes using a complex surveillance system hooked up to many cameras as used in many large buildings today.
