DirectTV DVR

DirecTV is a direct broadcast satellite service which transmits satellite television across the US. It is owned by DirecTV Group which is subsequently controlled by News Corporation's Fox Entertainment Group.

DirectTV provide self branded DVRs which use TiVo technology as a means to access and record their premium satellite content.  The DirectTV DVRs which use the TiVo technology are often referred to as DirecTiVo.

DirecTV offer their satellite subscription packages with a leased DVR or an upgrade on your older DVR model. Currently DirectTV offer a lower end specification DVR with only standard definition recording and their higher end model which allows recording of High Definition video both of which use the TiVo Series 2 technology.
